Re: Planning a protable Velleman MK191
Well, now's the time I make you all feel better about yourself. I stopped by my local electronics store and picked up a diode. I put it in the circuit and it still had the same problem. Turns out I had gotten a zener diode which will do that. I was resigned to a second trip to the store when I recal...

Re: Planning a protable Velleman MK191
Okay, I have an actual question with which, hopefully, someone can help me. The audio amp I'm using I got at Wal-mart out of a device for kids' bikes so they can listen to their MP3 players. The problem is the signal in/out is supposed to be a separate power supply from the main amp circuit. When I ...

Re: Planning a protable Velleman MK191
So I have managed to hook up a screen. It works and I learned a bit. http://i1146.photobucket.com/albums/o521/theantithesis/HNI_0038.jpg As you can see, I have an adafruit powerboost and a lipo battery attached. I had tried to hook the screen up directly and it worked, but the screen would flicker b...

Planning a protable Velleman MK191
I'm planning to turn my Velleman MK191 Classic TV Tennis Game with Analog Bats into a semi portable pong system by implementing a screen and 3D printing a case. https://www.quasarelectronics.co.uk/media/ecom/prodlg/velleman-mk191.jpg For those unfamiliar, the MK191 is a soldering kit. I'm not entire...

Re: Going without the USB hub
I tried that. It didn't work. It rebooted the pi immediately when plugging in anything. I think the usb hub has more to it than just wiring multiple ports. Probably sending different instructions from different devices to the computer. Quite right. I have a cheap hub from Big Lots and it has a MA86...

Re: What kind of projects would you like to see next?
I would like to see a non-game related project. I love retro games, but it's all I can think of to do with a Pi. I have three different models and I loaded Retropie on all of them. So, how about something else to get my mind off of retrogames. Maybe a home theater system that is also portable so you...

Vertical lines on screen
So, here's my set-up with the hacked Pigrrl. http://i1146.photobucket.com/albums/o521/theantithesis/3ds%20033.jpg What I've got so far works except there's a couple vertical lines on the left side of the screen as shown here: http://i1146.photobucket.com/albums/o521/theantithesis/3ds%20029.jpg http:...

Re: Audio help Pi model B
As is typical of such things, as soon as I posted, I continued to google and found a nice post on another forum that explained this and a link to a datasheet for an audio socket. I'll post what I found for those who may also need help. http://i.stack.imgur.com/Yjl5u.png http://i1146.photobucket.com/...

Audio help Pi model B
So I'm building the Pigrrl 1 kit from Adafruit because I want to build a couple projects before attempting something like the Gameboy Zero. I'm not doing the kit as written. I've already soldered a 3.5 screen to it, eschewing the PiTFT the kit came with. (I'll find a use for it elsewhere.) The kit j...

Re: Alternative to copper tape
I have used aluminum foil to make a gamepad once. There was a Youtube video where a kid shows you how to make a gamepad using a microcontroller from an old keyboard. (My attempt was a story of colossal failure, but that's for another day) The video can be seen here, for those who are curious: https:...
