I'm in the planning phases of a GBA build and I'm trying to save as much space as possible, while also leaving as much of the original hardware intact as possible. The GBA's display is a 2.9" TFT LCD with a 40-pin out, and I've been looking into whether it could be driven with an HDMI decoder like the Adafruit TFP401.
So far, I've been unable to find any examples anywhere online of anyone trying this, let alone getting it to work. Digging into some Adafruit projects leads me to believe that I could tell the decoder to output at the screen's 240x160 resolution, but I don't know enough about Python to know whether this is the only roadblock. Has anyone attempted this sort of thing before, or know enough about Python to know more about programming a TFP401? This seems like a much cleaner, more accurate and more elegant display solution than routing the case for a larger composite display.
