Yes a battery should fit inside. Because the calculator the is a Ti-83 (witch is older an pretty fat) everything will fit along as you clean up the inside. I'm putting a Adafruit's 1200 mha battery but you could probably fit a bigger battery. If you take on this project Id love to see what improvements and how you design it. ;)

Amazing project!

Only thing I can nit pick is the screen not taking up all the space it has, that looks a bit strange, oh well.

Yeah that's bugs me too. Unfortunately it was the only way I could get the screen to fit. I even tried cutting some of the extra pcb off the screen but it still ended up that way. I guess it's just something to work on my next attempt.

Looks good! Framerate looks a little choppy... Did you use moosepr's guide for getting spi screens to perform?

yeah that does look a little bit slow.

in your fbtft.config, change the speed to 80000000 and add in fps=60

Thanks for showing me this!! I also posted this on Reddit and people seemed to like it (https://www.reddit.com/r/raspberry_pi/c ... alculator/). I might possibly create a version 2.0 of this project, along with a tutorial if anyone is interested.
