You rang?

In all fairness I think it has to be spi. As long as you don't go over 240x320 resolution you will be fine 😀
Get a small cheep LCD in your project https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=2312
Wrap it all round a battery https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2292
Or use a custom PCB to make it really small https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2512
or make it really really really really tiny!! https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2919

Hi, so I made a Gameboy Advance SPi last year, I didn't get a proper board made up or anything that fancy. I used a screen from Adafruit that I had lying around and it mostly fits, I probably could have done a better job of it or looked for another screen, but hey, it works.
Here's a link if you wanted to take a look at the parts I used and how I laid it all out inside: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1920281
Trimming the case down without ruining it was probably the trickiest part.

I'm using your guide to work on mine, but with sound (hopefully). Thanks a bunch, again!

I made a proper board to go into the GBA SP:

The SPI screen is working well for you? My next step is to get a SPI screen working, since it will fit much more easily into the shell than the 3.5 inch composite screen. Though the larger screen size is nice to have too.

I bought the bw backup camera screen of Amazon that everyone is using.
How do you find the quality of the refresh rate?

I just installed the Version 8 BW screen and I find the screen hurts my eyes on mostly black screens.

Are you running in 240i? Try changing to 240p. Interlaced is the default, but it flickers like crazy, hurts my eyes too. It gets much better when you switch to progressive scan.

Try changing to 240p.
Great! How did you change this — via config.txt setting?
