The PiddlyPi!

Post by Holydohnut » Thu Sep 21, 2017 11:31 am

Heavily inspired by moosepr's builds, (thanks dude!) but nonetheless, something all of my own, it is my pleasure to introduce.... The PiddlyPi!

Rocking an enormous 1.44" screen, a 550mah battery and rudimentary sound, it comes out at 7.5cm tall, 4cm wide and (slightly disappointingly) 2cm thick. Though I am thinking that better wire management might enable me to shave as much as 3mm off the thickness.

But the best part is, it was built with entirely off the shelf bits. And a build log post will follow soon which I'm hoping will encourage others to follow the self build route!

Hey man, very nice! Glad I have inspired you!

Is that an off the shelf case? Or is it 3d printed?
Get a small cheep LCD in your project https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=2312
Wrap it all round a battery https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2292
Or use a custom PCB to make it really small https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2512
or make it really really really really tiny!! https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2919

3D printed and designed in Tinkercad. This is the 2nd to last of 15 prototypes in total! (I've just made another one with the clips integrated coz I wasn't happy with the grip)

In case (ho ho!) anyone's interested, here's a look at the majority of the prototypes! On their way to the bin. :-(

It's like that evolution of man picture! 😛

If I had that much access to a 3d printer I would be dangerous
