I took the code from pi-supply but didn’t yet made any testings.

Still need to finish the prototype, then test it with the provided code, make some optimization to the circuitry (essentially placement) to reduce the size, then optimize the code.

Last but not the least, i’ll make an evolution to the circuitry to add a second relay to catch shutdown signal from pi to cutoff power to the power supply and not only the pi like this initial design, so i’ll be able to power off sound amp, hdmi splitter, sound filters, scanline generator !
I’ll then add a CR2032 battery to be able to wake up the whole circuitry without power as my usage is intended to be nomad thus, sometimes not connected to AC outlet

As you can see, i’m only at the beginning of the stone edge

But your help is welcome with the code ! I’ll let you know when i’m ready to deal with it !

It doesn't mean I know how to code, I am just willing to put the effort with you on it and try to learn some basic python to get these things to work. We are always more succesful when we are not alone on it and debate with a partner ^^ The thing is that it feels like re-inventing the wheel as many people here have already designed safe shutdowns for different purposes. Still interesting though figuring it out yourself :D

I reinvent the wheel yes, i just want to deal with prototyping, testing, debugging, coding and also, further, make evolution to this hardware to perfectly suits my needs which are a lot diffrent than just switching safely off a Pi...

Remote needs to be converted to a Bluetooth controller!
Haha, you mean a game controller right? Haven't thought about it =) Sounds like this TI calculator modding on another thread!
really cool build......

theres this i saw a while back....

might be of interest if you could get it work with your existing remote.....

heres another (but seems like more work)

Thanks VeteranGamer, I'm glad you liked it as well. It is very simple!

Also thanks for all the links. I've shortly looked into a remote controlled TV, but the problem I was facing is that I am starting the TV in two steps. First push TV button on. Second push Pi3 button on the side of the TV. So even if I remotely activate the pi, I will always have to manually switch on the TV.

Now that I am writing this, I have never tried switching it on from the remote controller (no batteries in there yet). Will try that
If it works, I could imagine a two-step on switch from the remote, which would be super cool! I hope however that such an old remote is compatible with the guides you linked.

Aaaaaaaaaaaand, it fried.

Burnt smell came out yesterday evening, probably has something to do with the cable management behind the screen. I will open the TV this weekend and see what I can reuse. I am confident the Pi3 is still alive as I could see the screen acting weird but the RetroPie logo still standing. Had 50hours+ game play on it.

I'll give you guys an update soon.
