Show off your other gaming rigs!

Post by joe7dust » Mon Jun 13, 2016 12:12 pm

Anything goes! I'll start off by showing one I didn't make but seems amazing to fit all that in there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSBGk25Vamk He made it using the Odroid which was the smallest pi clone ever made... broadcom refused to sell those guys any more of their chips. I have no idea why but it really is a shame, could have been a legal concern for them as it might have put broadcom in a position for double-dipped piracy. (pi design stolen from rpf, and then used to help pirate retro game roms)

IP is a complex subject, but in my opinion if the guys who made the Odroid can accomplish the same device in a smaller form factor they should be hiring those people, not trying to squash the competition. I doubt they were competing anywhere near the $5 point anyhow... All I know is I would gladly pay extra for a pi clone that is smaller in case I ever do a GB micro project.

Lol nice! Is that proprietary software running the servos?

I wonder how much the XL version costs so my fat ass wouldn't break it. ^_^

There are free and paid versions of the motion software (that reads the real-time motion data from games). Obviously, the paid one is better, but I developed my own inverse kinematics math plugin for the free version:

The free software main page is here:

The paid version is here:

You can try the unregistered version for 10 minutes length before you restart the program, so you can try it.

About size, you can make the 6DOF platform it as big you want... any dimensions. I've seen some capable of 2000lbs load on the platform with industrial servo motors. The most common size platform uses almost 1HP motors:

And some of the platforms that my customers build by themselves:

And if you want only to watch some TV on it...

Moved to Other Projects > Show-off Corner.

Those race servos are really awesome. I wouldn't mind one if I had the time.

Even cooler though, are the professional aircraft simulator/trainers that have the servo hydraulics. I'd probably get fired because I didn't go in to work.

Don't know if it counts, but here are all my handheld "rigs" (minus the GBZ which is currently taken apart on my desk). :D

I'll give you a cookie if you get a VR headset running off one of those.

Well, 4 of those things have HDMI output, so it's probably doable. :)
