USB sound card for GBZ?
USB sound card for GBZ?
Hey guys,
don't know if i'm blind or not, but i can't find an existing guide/topic for this one.
So here's my n00b problem:
I bought this USB sound card: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B008KG ... UTF8&psc=1
its similar to the card thats mentioned in the wiki under 'working'.
i already soldered the GameBoy's headphone jack to the speaker,
but what exactly do i do now with the sound card? where should i connect it with the headphone jack?
the amplifier in wermy's guide is something completely different...
thats the sound card opened:
I'm thankful for every response!

Re: USB sound card for GBZ?
Hi,
this only works if your USB DAC has 5 pins, not 3.
Otherwise you will not be able to shut off the speaker when headphones are plugged in.
Here is a complete wiring diagram I created a while ago:

This might help you to find a place for the USB DAC.
The DAC is the top left part with those pads for the audio jacks.
Which pin is which, you would have to measure with a DMM to be sure.

Thanks!
Your diagram helps me a lot. I'll try it with the USB DAC,
if everything goes wrong I'll buy something else.

I prefer the first one (with a small cable), since you do not have to desolder the USB Port from the DAC Board, which can be pretty annoying.
Re: USB sound card for GBZ?
Hi
You can use this kind of sound card.
I have used it in my build and worked ok.
I say worked as I had to put a new card into my build today as the old one died.
I do not know why it died but the new one I have put in is the same as the old.
Hope it will work for a long time

This is a stereo DAC. You would struggle to find a mono one.deductivemonkee wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2017 6:44 pmThe pinout for the audio jack, like which ones should go to l and r on my amp. Does this dac do stereo or just mono?
Here is one guide for audio in general:

And this one is for audio wiring with amplifier and audio jack:
