Speaker Options

Post by jellybelly » Mon Dec 12, 2016 2:36 pm

when buying things for my project a better speaker was up there on the must have list

there is discussion on kites thread about speakers so thought i would share what i've found

its a 28mm 8ohm 2w speaker by a company called veco

i've already had it working in my breadboard set up and it performs very well, good sound with a nice amount of bass, this will (hopefully) only improve when installed in the case/

i am running them on a 5w amp which is not ideal but shouldn't cause to much of a issue if your carefully and reduce the max volume in you amixer

here it is installed in my build

here are the links to buy if you like the look of them:

USA: http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/2W-28 ... -P662.aspx

UK: http://www.jqsabers.com/veco-speakers/

turns out they are used in the making of custom light sabers which looks like a cool next project if i get round to it

Hey mate im also looking for a aftermarket speaker for my builds. Did you have to remove some of the battery compartment to get it too close?

yes you have to remove the battery comparment slightly but it doesnt go into it very far as my battery still fits in also

you can see in this pick the thickness of the battery tray removed but that all the space you need as the battery still sit flat once together

Did you have to trim any parts of the speaker itself.. or part of the DMG case (other than the battery compartment)?
