Gameboy (DMG) Spacer

Post by Tiny Desk Engineer » Thu Jun 29, 2017 11:08 pm

After nearly completing the gameboy zero with the helpful tutorials I realized something; the innards were too fat for their own good also the battery would never fit, So I poorly designed this spacer.

I also realized that I have no cad software experience or a 3d printer available so instead of letting it go to waste I give the blueprints to the Sudomod community for them to use. The measurements should be correct but since I never got a chance to test it who knows.
If anyone does try it out a note: it is meant to be assembled around an existing gameboy zero and glued to the top panel of the gameboy.

Thanks for the resource. So this is used to put between the top and bottom half to increase the total inside space?

That's correct, the screws should line up and give you much more internal space. In addition the 10mm height of the spacer could theoretically be increased to any size.

That's cool! I wonder how hard it would be to match the original dmg gray while printing lol

Well I've decided to try and attempt to make this by hand out of some heavy cardboard I found.

Edit - so its workable but due to the problems with making it with cardboard the spacer isn't very accurate nor can i keep it closed with screws.
I apologize ahead of time for the awful camera.

so you might be wondering what i needed all the extra space for in the first place

for the solar circuit/port of course.

Hi. this seems interesting, i have never seen anyone do this.
At first i thought it looked a bit fat and uncomfortable, but it is enticing to try something new :D would really want to try and print one .
Did anyone design it for 3d print? STL file?
