Noob question. How do you check if it is detected?
In my case I start a game and it quickly shows the error message, or I go to audio in the retropie menu and it will quickly show the error message.
I don't get any errors. When i go to the audio menu in Retropie I can see USB audio card. Maybe it is just my speakers. Will try again tonight. What is the default selection in the audio menu. I may have changed it.

This is the link, but as it arrived in a zip lock bag with a price sticker on it in Yen (!) I think he's just a guy who imports them in bulk.

Looks wise it was identical to my other one. Except the usb port was soldered on at an even MORE acute angle! ;-)
Thanks for that. No shipping to Canada though. I'll search around, see if I can find any sold from North America.

Probably just the auto. If you can detect the card, hopefully trying a different speaker works!

I bought 3 cards. First one didnt work. Second one is recognized and appears to work, but I've tried 3 speakers and still no sound.

Or in some cases, you can try to set it force to 3.5mm jack output

I lifted the small component called 'c1' on the front of the sound card, the same kind you have. Will that affect something?

I found a mini jack to mini jack cable, cut the connector off one end and used to it test my speakers. All of them are fine. I happened to be starting a new mintypi, but on this one I'm using the mintypi v2 image. For the heck of it, I put this image in my first build and the sound works. For whatever reason, the version 1 image doesnt work. I'm happy now. These things are awesome!

That is part of the crystal which is vital for the sound to work, if it's missing then you need to replace it. I think it's a 15pf ceramic cap or 18pf ceramic cap.
