Hello group please to meet you and read your posts while I wait for my mintyPi parts to come in. Quick question on screen connection for a 2.2 ILI9341 screen with 9 pins. If I use a connection harness plug like this one, will it work and will I be able to close lid (is there space)?

Re: 9 pin connector plug for ILI9341 screen
You wont be able to attach that connector to the back of the screen, there's not a lot of room in the lid. If you're planning on using the linked screen you'll have to clip the legs off the screen back board and thin it out by removing the SD connector.
If you're confident in your soldering skill I would suggest buying a bare screen along with a breakout board, like this: https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/zUNmnlLF
If you're planning on buying a bare ili screen you can look at the 2.2 and 2.4 inch. If you're bent on using the screen you linked you can desolder it from the back board and solder it to the board that I linked.

Re: 9 pin connector plug for ILI9341 screen
Thanks for the heads up. It's the screen recommended on the wiki page.

So no easy connector, plug or socket. I am starting to understand why these screens are cheap. Will need to work on my soldering skills to make the recommended interface board work (thanks for that). I guess ILI9341 screens that are 20624 ribbon ready did not exist thats why Helder made his board.

Yeah, the original v1 mintypi had a 2.2 screen. You can buy bare 2.4 ili9341 screens pretty easily on eBay. Just make sure it does not have a touch digitizer.
