Re: [SOLD OUT] Safe Shutdown v1.2 (for PowerBoost)
Would the safe shutdown be compatible with an Orange Pi Zero? It operates at the same voltage and current, so I would hope so. Either way, I'm 100% in for the next batch.

The hardware will be compatible, but you won't be able to use the software in its current state because it uses the RPi.GPIO module. @Fleder looked into using the Orange Pi at one point. I think he used this library. https://github.com/vitiral/gpioRoller Toaster wrote: ↑Wed Jul 05, 2017 6:02 pmWould the safe shutdown be compatible with an Orange Pi Zero? I just bought a Powerboost because I figured it'd be the best in the long run. Looking forward to another batch of 1.2 or 1.3 whichever comes first.

Re: [SOLD OUT] Safe Shutdown v1.2 (for PowerBoost)
I've had a few more people enquire about another batch. I was holding off for the revised v1.3, but it's looking more and more like this won't come any time soon. I was determined to resolve the low battery issue, and make sure the board powered off immediately after low battery shutdown, instead of relying on the LIPO's protection circuitry.
For anyone who is interested, the issue lies with using the LBO pin to control the EN pull-up/down. You can connect LBO directly to EN and have the PowerBoost shut off when the battery gets low. However, when your GBZ is on, the voltage is lower than when the GBZ is off. So after shutting down, the GBZ powers right back up again. I think the only way round this is to go back to using a JFET, or by removing the 200K Enable pull-up from the PowerBoost. The JFET worked well but as soon as a charging cable touched the USB port, the power would die. I'd also rather avoid having to modify existing hardware to get this board to work.
So while I try to iron out this minor issue, I'm going to open up pre-orders for v1.2. I can't guarantee there will even be a v1.3, but I am still investigating possible solutions. I don't need a huge amount of pre-orders to get the ball rolling, but I'm unfortunately not currently in a position to order a batch beforehand.

Re: [SOLD OUT] Safe Shutdown v1.2 (for PowerBoost)
Assuming I have no qualms with removing the 200K Enable, 1) Where is this component and 2) What are the potential risks? (I'm doing several builds and this sounds like preferable to relying on the LiPOs.Camble wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2017 4:18 pmI was determined to resolve the low battery issue, and make sure the board powered off immediately after low battery shutdown, instead of relying on the LIPO's protection circuitry.
