Hello, what is the difference between these DMG buttons and your tactile cap?

Re: [For Sale] DMG Buttons Shoulder Bracket
Hello! This version uses the same buttons as the front of your gameboy, the original buttons. It also works in the same fashion, a plastic button pushing down a conductive membrane onto the PCB. This set allows you to use your original buttons, as it uses a custom PCB that let's you use the conductive pads, so it will look and feel the same as the front.edwardthehuman wrote: ↑Sun Feb 04, 2018 10:00 pmHello, what is the difference between these DMG buttons and your tactile cap?
The tactile set uses tactile switches instead of the conductive pad method. The switches are held in place with a bracket, and there are no pcbs required because the switches are self contained. The caps on the tactile set are 12mm, which is about 1 mm larger than the original buttons. The caps unfortunately do not have any matching colors to the orginal Gameboy buttons. Tactile switches will also have a "click" sound and feel.
I hope that answers your question, if not, I'm glad to give any more Info you need !

I'm still researching information for my first build so I really appreciate the response! So, between the two, which one is better?erik_gee wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2018 1:16 am

Re: [For Sale] DMG Buttons Shoulder Bracket
Personal preference. Tactile buttons make a clicky sound and need slightly more force. DMG buttons with rubber membranes will feel like the buttons on the front. I personally prefer the membrane type.

Yeah I would agree. It would be preference. Personally, I actually kinda like the clickiness of the tactiles, as long as they have comfortable caps on them.
But if you wanna know whats more popular, I'll let you know, I have about a 10:1 ratio in sales favoring the dmg membrane version haha so it would seem a lot of people prefer the dmg buttons what what I can tell

10:1? Like I said I prefer the DMG button feel but 10:1 still surprises me.
Re: [For Sale] DMG Buttons Shoulder Bracket
I just ordered a set for my first GBZ build. Looks really nice!
What’s the easiest way to drill the case for this? Is there a template that can be applied? Should I apply the bracket and then drill carefully from the inside out? Something else? Just want to make sure I get this right.
