Slash125s first gbz build

Post by Slash125 » Fri Jan 06, 2017 7:25 am

Hi all

Been lurking in the forum for a while whilst gathering parts and am now ready to go !

Parts in hand :
Helders aoi board
Safe shutdown switch
Button wells & screen bracket
Choice of buttons
Broken DMG gameboy
Speaker
Pi zero
Screen
And a few other parts

Arriving next week :
Battery
Powerboost
Cable extension
Screen surround
Cart stickers

Going to be starting work this weekend and will update this post as I go.

Used to be active on the bacteria forums modding / portablising n64 & snes etc
But this is my first build using pi

So I may need some help at some point ;)

Small update

Screen surround & cart label have arrived from retrofresh

Both look really nice

I'll be finishing my retropie install tonight
And wiring my aio board to a micro USB cable I have cut

So I can test controls
But keep it plugged in via USB to zero until I'm ready to solder

Had a bit of time this weekend so made some progress

Got the front of case trimmed up properly
Added buttons ( I know the colours are wrong )
Gotta switch them round :(

Retropie set up

Screen tested , 5v conversion done and fitted

Wired up USB & hub from aio board and fitted that
Works fine ...... picked up all inputs

Test fitted screen surround

Quite happy with it all so far

Was looking for advice on a few things though

First I found these from an old project and am considering using them as l / r buttons as I don't really like the feel of tacts

Thoughts ?????

Also
Anybody had issues with abxy buttons not feeling quite right when pressed ?
And have a way to sort
