Here's a couple of photos of the screen. Very hard to read and it flickers in a kind of wave motion.
from those pic the screens about how its meant to be....

i suspect the flickering could be not supplying enough power or posible a weak connection on the video cable (shorten and posibly shield it)

I shortened the wires and got some sheilding from an old usb cable (I have not idea if this will work is is sufficient?) and it's still flickering. I've tried running the screen directly off the banggood powerboost but the screen does not turn on? I've checked with the multimeter and it is getting power so as long as the PI is on (so it is getting a video signal) it should turn on?

please show pics of what you've done...

theres a better way of shielding the video wire using a av cable....

also it still could be a power issue.... powering it via a powerboost isnt the issue, it how you've got the powerboost setup (power supply, battery connected, and wired up)

So I changed to an av cable as per this thread - viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2850&hilit=shielding+wire

here are the pics - https://ibb.co/cZvhkF https://ibb.co/eJExKa

It is still flickering.

I've connected the power back to the pi for now so I'm guessing it is either a power issue or my conversion on the screen is not working.

I've wired the banggood powerboost as per this thread - viewtopic.php?f=22&t=1715 - I don't have a battery connected yet. I have the poswerbooast connected via micro USB to the mains.

did you use a usb cable or av cable....

and your solder work needs attention.... it needs yo be alot more cleaner... you will get bad connection like that

please show how you have the powerboost wired up.... im sure you are not supplying the screen with enough power

I used an old aux av cable

Yes my soldering is a mess. I have since tidied it up.

I did setup the circuit with the switch and a little powerboat but taken it apart just to try and get the screen working. I have it connected directly yo the screen https://ibb.co/jZ8o9a

The powerboost keeps fluctuating from 4.1 to 5.1 volts. May be it's faulty?

it might be an idea to connect a battery to the powerboost....
