Have you make the required changes to the config.txt to display via composite?
No, how or where does it tell you to do that? Sorry never used a pi before this.
Either SSH into Pi (https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/ssh) or F4 in Retropie menu to back out to terminal then:
cd /boot
sudo nano config.txt

Then at the bottom

# uncomment for composite PAL
#sdtv_mode-2
remove the # so

# uncomment for composite PAL
sdtv_mode-2
and then "Ctrl X" to exit and save with Y
then reboot.
okay thanks a lot BuToNZ, I will try this when i get home from work.

Hi!
Struggling to understand what do do with my v9 screen - the wiki recommends (1) desoldering an IC, (2) adding a cable.
Is this 'either or' or do i need to do both?
This thread suggests to my beginner's mind that the cable could be enough?
Thanks!

I have the it soldered to the back of the PI as in Wermy's guide and the PI is powered with my original PI model b power supply. I've re-soldered all the connections and I've tried disconnecting both the yellow and white wires.

you need to show a photo of what you've done...

also only one wire needs to be connected (either yellow or white)

are you sure you know how to wire this screen.... its not the same as the one wermy used (looks the same, but different variant)

I followed what others had done for variant 9 on the forum.

Here is how I've worked it to the pi...

Here's a couple of photos of the screen. Very hard to read and it flickers in a kind of wave motion.
