Layout
Button options

Hey all,
so i have some time to work on this project more and was tinkering with the button layout.

if i go with the traditional 'add two buttons above the current ones' method, it cuts a bit close to the screen
i have proposed a second layout

please take a look and tell me what you think

alternate layoutShow

or, lets just go crazy and do a:
6 button configShow

polite notice
the dimensions and exact placement of the buttons is not as per the images. the images are provided as a rough estimate to look and feel aesthetics

My mind feels perturbations in the force when looking at the alternate... lol
I however like the 6 buttons one :D

Edit : i think raising few millimeters the r1 and l1 will make playing more confortable

I'll always love the classic layout, but the diamond doesn't get so close to the screen area.

What screen would be used for these? I have a 2.5" diagonal backup screen, need to try and fit it sometime, but I feel like SPI would be way easier for space.

A 2.8 will fit internally, but just.
I'll post some pics

Personally I am partial to the six button face layout. It's closer to the sega city player one layout of arcade sticks and saves on the blackface for only two shoulders L2 and R2

These will most likely be added to the bottom layer of the PCB for ease

More soon

Your alternative button layout is a good idea. I thought it might work for a GBA, but there's still not enough space.

Anyway, I'd maybe have A/B where A/X is, and B/Y would become X/Y. Just my opinion.

Don't mind the bleed through on the print out. I'm just being penny wise and printing on both sides
