lotusalex first GBZ finished

Post by lotusalex2000 » Mon Oct 09, 2017 1:49 pm

Hi, I want to show you my first build.
I also have some problems, maybe someone can help me. The system freeze after 5min. Sometimes after 1min, sometimes after 10min.
I use Kites AIO with his newest Premade Image. I send a Pi to Giles because I'm a noob in soldering. Unfortunately there was a transport damage with the Pi and the case of the 4R7 is damaged. I talk to Giles and it it should not be the problem.

I try:
use an older Build of the Premade Image (freeze after 5-10min)
change the SD Card (freeze after 5-10min)
deactivate onboard BT and Wifi (freeze after 5-10min)
try it with 5V Power supply on the pi direct with hdmi and a usb gamecontroller (freeze after 5-10min)
But now i have no idea what i can do?

You should never power directly the Pi before desoldering the voltage jumpers ont he SAIO.

When you say if freezes, what do you mean ?
You are playing and then nothing moves ?
If you are in Emulation Station without game loaded does it freezes also ?
Are all emulatirs freezing or just one ?
Does it freezes if you leave Emulation station to the command line console ? Plug usb keyboard and try to type something after a while in the console to see if it’s frozen.

Also, how much free space you have on the SD ?
Type

Code: Select all

df -h
and copy/paste output here in a command box.

And your build is very cool. Is it a CNC cut from Kubino ?

Hi Yaya, yes it is from Kubino, I like it.
With the 5V i read it in your GBZ Build :-), Thanks!
On friday, i try to oscilloscope the Power supply.
Somthing special was last night. The GBZ ist off and the Background lighting flickers? I dont know why?????

I try it with the df -h :-) tomorrow.

Freeze means. If i only start the Emulator Station it stops after 5-10min, you can do nothing with the Buttons or a keyboard.
At the Games it is the same the music stops and you can do nothing with the Buttons.
If i start a snes Game it takes more time to freeze.
I make a video tomorrow :-)

looks like mine old cut (2.5mm border) now I go less than 2mm so you can use any screen protector when decided ;-)

Looks overall very clean. Are your X and Y buttons properly working? They look a bit too deep in the case... ALso, those back buttons are from Erik_Gee?

Hope you fix the freezing issue.

Cheers.

That build looks so clean. I like it a lot!

It's too bad that when I made a white one the wife didn't like it so I had to get rid of it. One question tho, Have you managed to fix the X and Y buttons? they seem to be a little bit too low.
