GBZ #6

Post by rodocop » Tue Oct 24, 2017 8:35 am

So I've started another build. It may be my last gameboy zero!?!? (Depends if I buy a kite circuit sword I guess). Few other alternate builds coming up though. (Minty pi, sp build, and 32teeth's kickstarter handheld)

Teal shell, colorful buttons. Using screen bracket from hoolyhoo, shoulder button bracket from erik_gee, some stickers should be coming from YaYa.

Banggood powerboost, pi zero w and Samsung galaxy 2 battery will be used.

I am also using the all in one board and screen (5v ready) I bought from Ckliang...

Progress so far...front half mostly done. Still waiting on sd card...

I love the color scheme. Totally awesome.

Why does the lower bezel on my BW screen seem so large by comparison. So many builds seem to center the screen easily without adjusting where X and Y are. What am I missing?

I've used hoolyhoo's bracket so it centers the screen for you, also using that bracket the screen goes upside down, maybe that's the difference you see?

Wait, what? How do you tell the Pi it is reversed? Is that something people do a lot? I always see the ribbon on the bottom. I'll see if I can tweak mine anymore to drop it further.

Yeah simple adjustment of the config.txt. if I recall all you need to add is display_rotate=2

Front half done. Ckliang board works. Next step, finish the back half.

I am absolutely using a teal shell next time. What's not to like?

Oh, and your advice was spot on. I am reversing my screen. Bezel is perfect that way!

All done.

Audio is okay. I had some issues with the b button but it was resolved with Ckliang's help. Everything else seems good so far.

Used hoolyhoos script for battery monitor too. Also turns out this was a pi zero (not a W), did not realize until the end. Waiting on a Wi-Fi dongle now. Also waiting for the custom stickers from YaYa.

It was not intentional that I used the grey back. I actually screwed up the holes for erik_gees shoulder buttons in my teal case. Buttons did not fit and I did not want to widen the holes to fit. I think the grey turned out good!
