EmulationStation quits to console on some consoles [Solved]
I've been doing some scraping after transferring ROMs to my SD card and now I'm getting errors. Most systems work just fine. I select the system and it goes right to the games list with all the new metadata. The problem is that three of my systems quit to console with an aborted message when selected. To top it off, the keyboard stops responding when this happens. Luckily I can ssh into it to send a reboot command.
The message is hard to read on my screen, but it mentions a font.cpp file. This only happens to these systems after I scrape. This makes me think it has to do with not being able to display strange characters that aren't in the font. I went thru the gameslist.xml file and removed all the kanji and katakana I could find. Still no luck.
To top it off, all my googling has not revealed where a log file might be that could give me more info on the error.
What limited info I found online regarding similar error messages, they said to update. I updated all packages and it still happens.
I also changed from the metapixel theme back to the default in case that was the cause. No dice.
Can anyone help?

Did you try to scrap from another source ? Do you use emulation station built in crapper or do you use Selph’s scraper !?

I use Selph. Perhaps I will retry scraping from within ES.
Do you know of a log file that might have more info?

No i don’t know a log file... don’t scrap from emulation, it’s horribly slow and nothing is found... it’s spending more than 2 minutes for one game

Did you try activating the parse gamelist only option in emulation station’s menu ?

I've never heard of that option. What does that do?

Re: EmulationStation quits to console on some consoles
It initialize the game list with only scrapped roms... for example you scrapped a dir with 200 roms and the scrapper has found only 150 games. Without this option, you will have 200 games in list among them 50 without information (not scrapped). With the option, you will see only 150 games in the list, all with scrapped information.
This can eliminate bad package. If it doesn’t crash, then you narrow the problem

I'll have to try that. My other plan was to add half the ROMs and see if it breaks, then keep adding to find the troubled ROMs.YaYa wrote: ↑Tue Nov 07, 2017 12:20 pmIt initialize the game list with only scrapped roms... for example you scrapped a dir with 200 roms and the scrapper has found only 150 games. Where is the option located?
Thanks!
