I'm currently shopping around for decently priced white VMUs. I need to give this a go myself!wermy wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2018 6:01 pm
The parts I was referring to will be from kite on here, so he'll be the one selling them, but yes there will be soldering involved. I know dryja123 on here has started offering a soldering service (in the buy/sell/trade section), so you may want to ask him about that.

Re: VMµ - Sega Dreamcast VMU Project
Love the project! I have a few of these and have always wanted to stick an emulator in it. Keep up the good work!
Re: VMµ - Sega Dreamcast VMU Project
Hi, I'm new here but I've been following your work for a while, I've already done a zero game boy following your instructions and now I'm doing a VMU but I have several questions that I hope you can solve.
Could you pass me an electrical diagram of the sound amplifier part?
Where should I connect the ignition switch? The file that you put is to program the battery charger? How is it done?
Thank you very much for your time and it continues like this.

Hey, loved the project.
I made something like this following the step you have but now I'm stuck. The text is too small. I got it to boot on to the home screen and move around a bit, how do you get the roms on to it? and how do you turn on wifi? please help. thank you for your time.

Hi, and nice job ! I've got one question. Which pins did you use to work the music out toward the MAX98357 I2S amp ? Or, to you have a full schematic of the pi out ?
Thanks and great job again !

Re: VMµ - Sega Dreamcast VMU Project
I2S is pretty well documented in Pi land...
The adafruit mono I2S DAC uses that MAX chip, so you could follow their instructions: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-max ... y-pi-usage
but basically, add this to your config.txt
Code: Select all
dtparam=i2s=on
Code: Select all
dtoverlay=hifiberry-dac
and the pins are fixed on a regular 40 pin header:
GPIO 18 = PCM_CLK
GPIO 19 = PCM_FS
GPIO 20 = PCM_DIN
GPIO 21 = PCM_DOUT
use this diagram to reference the actual pin locations vs. the GPIO numbers (GPIO numbers do not equal physical pin numbers)
Re: VMµ - Sega Dreamcast VMU Project
Man this mod is AWSOME!!! Dreamcast is my very first console with which I started my gaming journey. All the best years of gaming a had only with my DC and about 50's original games.
Man you convinced me to buy once again after about 15 years later another Dreamcast console
