Here is what I have. My VIN is connected to my breakout board which is connected to my PowerBoost1000c_N0x wrote:I guess. I think the SHDN pin is for shutting down the outgoing pin if no Vollage is applied. But you are using the PowerBoost for shuting down everything. Right? So connecting SHDN and VIN should bridge that.

Connect VIN and SHDN and everything should be finedirtybeagles wrote:Here is what I have. My VIN is connected to my breakout board which is connected to my PowerBoost1000c

As long as VIN is above 2,3v there should be no problems.
(You could use the the SHDN pin if you want to shutdown only your Screen.)
I don't even know how to solder ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hmm, i just connected 5v to the VIN and GND, then wired GND and VOUT to my display and connected the display to a video source and it worked without any problems. Let me test this again, later. I will take a look.

Is it like my diagram that I have above or do you have it connect directly to your power boost?Fleder wrote:Hmm, i just connected 5v to the VIN and GND, then wired GND and VOUT to my display and connected the display to a video source and it worked without any problems. Here is a video in case I did something incorrect. The first connection I tested was VOUT (3.3v?) and the second one was VIN. VIN gets up to 4.5 something which should be fine. https://goo.gl/photos/JKZT3rDLmYrPFmbSA

Well, i measured the output of my Pololu Step Up and its 12,18v constant.
I used a micro USB Breakout, connected this to my pc and measured a constant 4,8v.
Then i connected wires from VCC (USB Breakout) to VIN (Pololu) and from GND (USB Breakout) to GND (Pololu).
Then i connected another wire to the GND (Pololu) and one to VOUT (Pololu) and measured those two.
What output can u measure? Try to keep it simple at first and go with 5v USB/Power Outlet to your Pololu.
Could you do that and report back?
edit: you seem to have a different step-up than me.
I only got VIN GND and VOUT. Mine is the U3V12F12 and you seem to have the S10V2F12.

Ah, so you have not connected it to the Power Boost yet? You just connected it to to a USB power?Fleder wrote: Try to keep it simple at first and go with 5v USB/Power Outlet to your Pololu.

Yes I can do this and measure and report back. It will be tonight (Eastern Time).

No, always start small and slowly edge your way forward.dirtybeagles wrote:Ah, so you have not connected it to the Power Boost yet? You just connected it to to a USB power?

If the first step is fine, do the next. This way you can find where the issue might be.
Yours got a maximum output current of 200mAh. I am no professional on this, but it COULD be that your display requires more.
But just test out the output first and report back

Edit: Not pretty but it works. 5v USB Input -> Pololu 12v Step-Up -> VGA LCD Display

Another Edit: Ugly and works again. 3,7v Battery -> PowerBoost -> 12v Step-Up -> VGA LCD Display

And the Schematics:

I got the same one from ATian. It is way too big to fit and I don't even know if you could dremel it down looking at the components.
The box also looks a bit different from other ones I am seeing on here. I would say that this one is undesirable for this project.
Are there any consistently good choices to find this screen? I am hoping to do one of the Amazon Prime ones since I don't want to wait but I also don't want to play the display lottery and keep returning them

Yup I tested it with a USB VCC and had the same results. I am only getting 3.3v from the 12v step up. Looks like we can say the NiceShopping screen from amazon is not going to run off of 5v.Fleder wrote:But just test out the output first and report back
