I ordered this one from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/BW-3-5-Inch-Moni ... B0045IIZKU and got the variant 7 screen of the Screen Wiki page. I followed the second method that is posted there to make it 5V compatible and it worked.

Last friday I received my Gearbest screen but the bord looks different then the one from the Wiki.
The screen does with without 5V conversion but its almost impossible to see something on the screen when looking directly at it. when you look from below the screen looks good. Would a 5v conversion help with this oris this something that settings can help with?

Just ordered the 3.5 BW screen, and got this variant:

While trying to desolder the chip marked I accidentally also desoldered two SMB (the one directly to the left/right respectivly)
Since I lost the ones I desoldered, does anybody know the exact type needed to replace them?

I have a v9 as well but it appears to work on 5v without modification but I have only tested it soldered to a pi zero so don't know if audio will give any interference. Does anyone else have any experience will a BW v9?

If it is recommended to mod the board, I'm a little confused by the mixed messages on what to do. One post I've seen simply has a jump cable from one of the chip pins (and it's hard to see exactly what pin it is) and the wiki says remove the chip as well. Is anyone successfully using a BW v9 that can show me a picture of their working board?

I have a v9 screen and followed the advice in this thread to get it working on 5v.
http://sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2110
The wiki entry for 5v modification was not there when i got mine but this method is much easier and i can confirm it works. There was recently another user with the same problem and he confirmed this works as well. This picture was taken by him.

Hi All,

Not a 3.5 inch screen, but a 4 inch:

Image

Screen works fine. Specs:

Resolution: 320 X 240
Input voltage: 10V-18V
Current: DC60-220mA
Structure Size: 96.28(W) X 76(H) X 5.69(D)
Display area Size: 82.08(H) x 61.56(V)
Video signal: CVBS(0.7~1.4Vpp/75ohm)
Format:Compatible with PAL/NTSC
Operate temperature: -10℃~+55℃
Storage temperature: -25℃~+70℃
Contrast: adjustable
Brightness: adjustable

Can I mod this screen to run off 5V? YES

I have been using this for a small table top retro arcade.

Anyone seen this screen before? Does it need to be converted to 5V?
