Collecting information on alternative displays - please contribute

I dont know what ive done but i cannot get a picture from it after the cutdown. Also, cant remember which side to allign the ribbon cable. Id a oid this board if at all possible guys. Total nightmare

I did the same. Just a blank white screen after cutting the board.

On the rear of the board there are a couple of traces that you will see route the whole way around the outside, you could just run a jumper across the back of the board to re-connect those.

The screens I've seen that look similar to the one you've found were 88mm wide which meant they wouldn't fit in a gameboy housing. Please let us know if yours fits though as that may be a good find.

Good call-out- these are 3:2 as opposed to 4:3 which means they are probably shaped the like PiTFT 3.5 and push the width limits of the enclosure like you said.

I just bought this screen from Everbuying since Amazon won't accept paypal. http://www.everbuying.net/product556669.html I am wondering if somebody has this screen and how they hooked it up on 5v? I cannot seem to find the exact same board on the Sudo-wiki although it looks alot like the one on Amazon.

I just purchased this board also can anyone let me know how to modify for 5V, Cheers.

EDIT: never mind I sorted it, I fed the 5V to pin 2 of the xl1509 chip and it works great.

Hi Tonight i found solution for this screen, i use the picture from forum because i' don't have picture of my work. I found a solution for 5v mod, inside the AMS1117, the regulator jw5022 put out 5v but i have problem to a clean image, on AMS1117 the image is clean.

P.S. for put inside a gameboy shell, we need to cut a little

Some feedback on the 3.5" KeDei HDMI display:

The build quality is pretty common with smaller batch, first run products - functional but mediocre with some slight component skew on pads, flux everywhere, mis-aligned slot for the ribbon cable passthrough, etc. But it works! The switch is a simple 5v passthrough from the microUSB supply jack.

As far as fitting a DMG-01 case, it's tight, but not as tight as the Adafruit 3.5" display. Helping matters are the fact that you can remove roughly half an inch of PCB if necessary on the left side of the display. I wish there were a non-touchscreen version as well, it would reduce thickness and the unnecessary control circuitry/headers. Mounting in a GameBoy Zero scenario will likely mean relocating or removing the power switch, and relocating the supply header for your battery/charging circuit. The sound will need to be pulled off the headphone jack, assuming you don't want to use PWM/USB audio.

Display quality at 480x320 is definitely better than a composite screen but not as good as an 800x480 HDMI display (obviously). I haven't tested any 640x480 composite screens for comparison.
