My first, very vanilla, GBZ

Going to get straight to the point.
Parts:
Aftermarket DMG case
Extra set of Game Boy buttons
Raspberry Pi Zero
Tactile switches for rear buttons
A set of JST PH cables so I can have a disconnect I can reach without having to open the case.
Also I got a 4,000maH battery from eBay to serve until I get my batteries from Dextech. It fit in the battery case without a need to butcher it too badly. In fact a little less cutting than is required for the Dextech battery.

And of course parts from the users here Long story short, everything is working wonderfully. A very few minor issues occurred during the build, notably the guides built into Kites board for where to drill holes is slightly different from where HoolyHoo's screen wants it. Other issues that came up during the build were basically on me. I didn't double check wiring so I used the wrong line for ground when doing the rear buttons, swapped out and everything worked fine. Lastly, I should have test fit a few items before doing too much soldering, I might have found better ways to run items.

I spent a total of maybe 14 hours hours building this across multiple days. I am pretty happy with the results, but I'm sure others can judge the work for themselves.

So far it runs great and looks great. I'm already planning another build, and am anxiously awaiting word on inches CeMu partner board to do a Raspberry Pi3 build.

So here are the pictures.

Looks awesome, I think I am going to need to get one of kites boards in the next pre-order. I really like the idea of not having a rats nest of wires inside.

@rodocop

I've done two GBZ builds. After seeing the clarity of kite's DPI screen compared to a composite screen, I won't be going back. Kite's DPI screen looks awesome. It would be cool if someone made a PCB for just a DPI screen so everyone can have another screen option that looked really good without having to opt for the 640x480 screens.

You should try kite's build. It's super easy and everything about it is high quality. I definitely recommend.

For any who are interested I have finally got a current meter hooked up. The system drew .31A while playing Super Mario Bros on NES emulator.

While playing Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES) it drew .34A

Screen was about half brightness

So, my experience says plan for .35A draw. Which is pretty nice with a 4,000 mAh battery.

Nice work! Looks like we did almost the exact same thing! I noticed that too that Kite's screw guides and the Hoolyhoo bracket dont quite line up.
