Re: PiCB-tft
It's always a good day when a box arrives covered in Chinese writing. Especially when you check things and it all looks correct!

its alive!!!!!
Had a bit of a mare though!! seems i made 2 different 3.3v circuits on the board, and only attached one of them to an actual 3.3v source!! just one wire to fix, so its not a total loss.

Re: PiCB-tft
So i thought i would do the obligatory power test on the new board
we are running a new Zero W, with wifi and bluetooth on, keyboard and mouse attached via the bluetooth (microsoft wedge)
fired up firefox and clicked the first youtube video to keep the cpu at full tilt, and the most i saw on the power meter was 0.26ma
sat idle on the desktop was flitting round the 0.13ma mark
had it on while installling the xserver and xfce desktop environment, and some playing, and its only used just over 300mah in just under 2 hours
now even if my previous tests showing the guage is about 10% out, thats still not bad!!!!

Re: PiCB-tft
So I got my zero and PiCB-tft all soldered up last night, but by the time I had everything set up and a fresh SD downloaded and installed it was time to leave the 'space... so didn't get to properly play.
I'll take a pic and upload it soon enough

im actually pretty impressed with the pcb's. the edges are all nice and smooth, and the finish is pretty good too for the money!

Re: PiCB-tft
very nice!! i especially like the resistor bending skills!! Without the 'fix' wire, the screen wont work. although your resistor is close enough to the gpio pins that you could bridge from 3.3v to the resistor instead of using up those 3.3v connectors at the bottom
whats the extra little board? is that the charge/boost/protect board you mentioned the other day?

Re: PiCB-tft
Ooh. good call. though i was going to replace it with a SMD resistor as soon as i got hold of one. but a kynar mod is still doable anyway... okmoosepr wrote:although your resistor is close enough to the gpio pins that you could bridge from 3.3v to the resistor
yes, a tiny one for the VMU, which I'd forgotten that I was waiting for. once the USB A socket is removed (other side of the board) and I swap the overly large inductor for a lower profile one (incoming from RS at half the cost of the board just for the inductor! - only because I didn't want 10x of a cheaper one)
anyway, will you still have any of these screen/board combos left or are they all spoken for?
