I have converted 5 of these Variant 9 boards to 5v by removing the chip. Every board was working fine afterwards.VeteranGamer wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2017 2:27 amDont take the wiki as gospel....Boydee wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2017 2:07 amAs poll said it looks like your jumper wire is in the incorrect spot. This is taken directly from the wiki.
I'd try soldering to that point first and if the results aren't great remove the chip as mentioned.
Also read through the whole thread veteran mentioned it shows you how to change the resolution and other stuff to try, which will help too.

so why do something that isnt really needed, and run the risk of messing up the board.....

Very good that this method works for you, but I also speak from experience, with a method that has worked for me. Also I want to point out that I haven't seen your solution before, but if it works, it works. It's better to tell people there are multiple solutions to a problem. So instead of shooting down other people's suggestions, let's help each other.VeteranGamer wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2017 5:02 amPolletjeNL wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2017 4:48 amI have converted 5 of these Variant 9 boards to 5v by removing the chip. when theres an easier solution to something, why complicate things....
i'm not the first person to point this out, look at the first link i provided
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=15&p=23963&hilit=variant+9#p24053
and if you look at the other links, removing the chipis more hazardous and isnt really needed (overkill)
its about helping someone

Im not upset, just like you I want to help someone who askes for help. Even when someone says he is a noob, perhaps his soldering skills are great, but his knowledge of building a gbz is not.VeteranGamer wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2017 5:30 ami'm not shooting people down, dont get upset.....PolletjeNL wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2017 5:20 amVery good that this method works for you, but I also speak from experience, with a method that has worked for me. Re: gameboy zero by the noobest guy
Hi every one.
As many others, I started a GBZ built and I ended with the exact same screen as Boydee.
I wired everything, but the Pi0W is constantly rebooting.
I see screen flashing, the logo of recal box appearing brieffly, and then black screen, and start again.
When I use my circuit to power only the screen, and a micro usb charger directly on the Pi, everything works fine.
I'm using a 3,7V 4000 Amph battery connected to this battery charger :
This one is connected to a converter to convert 3.7V to 5.4V :
Output of this device is 5.4V and 1 Amp.
My guess is that I don't have enough Amp to power both Pi0W and screen.
Could you point me how I could improve my power chain ?
Thx.

Re: gameboy zero by the noobest guy
Get a better battery with at least 2000mAh or better. 400mah is way too low to power everything for any extended period of time.
