I mean the scripts should work considering they are programs that run in the background. The scripts would run on most OS using Linux that are based on debian.

I saw this thread on the simplyfy3d forums : https://forum.simplify3d.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=6130. Perhaps it might help? Or you could try using cura and see if there is a difference. (Also the filament may cause the shrinking).

Get a multimeter and put it on continuity check. Then probe ground and 5V, if it beeps then they are connected. Make this a habit when soldering, especially when dealing with batteries.
