Are you sure that the Tinkerboy powerswitch will work without a battery? Normally these lipo charge/boost converter needs a battery to output 5V, even if you plug in USB power. And you should consider making the pi USB accessible from outside, because that would make the setup a lot easy. Also I can...

Of course the build features a switch to disconnect the power completlly, including the screen. Surely I can/will provide more detailed information about my power supply, when I am back from my christmas holidays. But I am not sure if that helps to solve the issue.
