Re: BW screen getting warm

You can use the 5v test point for 5v or use the 3.3v i suggested. The IC runs on 3.3v and the entire board works on 3.3v so it should not be a problem. This is useful if powering directly from 3.7v battery without a boost circuit.

Can you resolder the yellow wire? It looks badly soldered.

Re: Help with BW screen

Hey do not touch the red wire around like that to pins. You probably shorted the power and GND pins.

Can you show me the front side of the pi with the soldering?

Re: Help with BW screen

The tab sticking out upwards is also connected to middle pin. You can use that to connect to pi's 3.3v pin

Re: Help with BW screen

1117h is a linear voltage regulator so you are in luck. If you can try connecting 3.3v from pi to the middle pin (output pin) then you have a working display. no need of 5v hack

Have a look at page 3 > SOT223

Re: Help with BW screen

Hey Nealon Can you read the markings on the IC besides the broken Red wire on the button pcb ? That is most likely 3.3v regulator
If it is then you can just connect the Pi's 3.3v to it and you would not need anything else to mod

Re: BW screen getting warm

See the empty holes on the right side? The top most is 3.3v and bellow that is GND. That should power your lcd nicely. Use that and the composite input (3 wires in total) for the LCD. That should do
