It's probably mostly nostalgia, at least it is for me. The size helps too. Being larger it is a bit more forgiving for a project like this.

I got my Amazon backup screen today. My screen is variant 9. I followed the instructions to get it to run on 5v. While removing the chip I got a bit careless and rushed it. I ripped part of it off rather than desoldering. While doing that it took the only pad I needed with it. Am I SOL? Is there som...
