confirmed that the boot loop behaviour went away for me with the addition of a battery.

Mine does the same - using the most recent (correct) image, I had assumed its because I haven't got a battery plugged in (and therefore the usb wasn't able to fully power the device causing it to restart). Waiting on a battery to arrive to prove my theory.

Something else to consider when using a number of devices on your hub..
I found that I had to power my hub from the 5v breakout board I made , and not just power the hub from the pi. Perhaps one or more of your usb devices are drawing too much current

A rough estimate perhaps? ;) Are there plans to include the teensy or USB-Hub or so? Then I'd gladly wait for those ;-) ...

Let me know if you get audio out of the emulators. I can get audio from emulationstation Ui, but not from any emulators
