Modding a 5" lcd to 5V?

So I have various projects and for one of them I got a 5" back camera display because bigger, right? and it's nice and big but I have no real background in electronics so I don't know how to mod this myself. Fortunately, I found an instructables here on how to do it. Long story short, the guy hooked...

Teeny tiny piece of scraper advice.

I have been enjoying Retropie as much as the next guy here, but I decided to try using the scraper-- not sure where that term comes from-- that will download and add info on the games, like a box scan, description, publication info, etc. which is nice and can help you find a particular game and it b...

Re: PWM audio issue

Can you take a picture of your set up? I've done some work with audio, although not PWM on the PiZero. I have made a speaker out of paper plates (and then my roommate set it on fire) If you can hear something, then you are getting a signal, so nothing wrong with your set-up. What could be the proble...

Re: Atari Flashback Portable Pi ?

Personally, I wouldn't bother trying to mod a portable Flashback. I have one and have poked around inside. Not a whole lot of space. Thing is, when making electronics it's better to make your own case or use something that's a brick with plenty of room, like the original Game Boy. It can be an inter...

Re: White screen when testing BW screen.

I saw a post that said only one composite connection is necessary on these screens (either white OR yellow). Is it possible that using both is causing some sort of interference? Possibly. I can't be sure. But these back up camera screen have two channels, or whatever, so they can take in two feeds....

Re: Planning a protable Velleman MK191

Took some video of the setup in action. I've added the switch from the Pigrrl kit from which I'm taking most of the power circuit. You can see here when I turn on the amp (off screen because I am a terrible cameraman) that the screen and unit resets, probably because the amp's power draw is enough t...

Re: 3d printer buying advice

Also, get some mosfets to reduce the risk of fire. The A8 sends the power for the hot end and heated bed through the motherboard and it really can't handle that amount of current. 3D printers take a long time to print and are often left unattended, so anything to make it safer is a good idea.

Re: 3d printer buying advice

If you get a 3D printer, be prepared to tinker. A lot. This goes for the cheapo Chinese printer to the $2000 models. There may be less tinkering at the higher end, but there isn't no tinkering. I like to think of it like teens in the 50's tricking out their hot rods. You buy a product with the expec...

Re: Planning a protable Velleman MK191

Minor update. I plugged the minilipo charger into the mains, (as Brits say, Americans say "into the wall" which sounds weird) to see if it'll run off that while the battery charged. It did, but the screen got the power cycling flicker again. I think the juice drops a bit when the charge cycle is eng...
