This is really weird. I came here because I have the same problem.
Works using microusb, but not when soldered to pp22/23. I did a continuity check and microusb ends up at the same pads (pp22/23). This makes absolutely no sense to me. And nothing is shorted either.

Or you accept the risk of an exploding battery and solder it onto those pads. Those additional 2 pads are usually for temperature and monitoring the battery healt...

Is it possible to use a phone battery with the powerboost? I have tons of old phones lying around, would be awesome if the batteries could be used. And they're pretty small. This one for example 20160707_114624.jpg However, it is 3.8V as opposed to 3.7V and has 4 pads for connections. Would this work?
