Have you tried turning the volume down in the ES software?

You could try driving the headphone jack directly and then just using the amp for the speaker. Quite often there will be enough power to power headphones (I'm thinking ear buds) but not enough for a speaker.

1. Just an old 80 pin IDE cable off ebay (the 80 pin/wire ones have the 30 awg wires, if you get an older 40 pin/wire ide cable it will have thicker wires).

I believe 26 AWG for power (incl USB and screen), video signal and analog audio signal. 30 AWG (an 80 pin/wire IDE ribbon cable) for button input, digital audio (i.e. pre DAC) and USB data.

This one is sold, but there I do have one identically spec'ed just in a Teal (think Beemo) color.

Good eyes Veteran, actually the USB to DC plug cables I got from Kitsch Bent are wired backwards (+ve is outer part of plug and inner is -ve). Which is the complete opposite to how they come from ebay/Aliexpress (and the general way of doing all DC plugs). Hence the reason I wired it that way. Just ...
