This is what my soldering looks like. I've checked the gpio pins and I don't have any shorts, and the mode button test pad is connected to the button. The leads on the button aren't shorted to each other, except when I push the button.

Remove the screen bezel you mean? I don't see why that would make a difference since that's not the button registering.

I'm putting together my mintypi v3, I have a problem where the mode button is always pushed. I checked with a multimeter and the leads are not connected. I checked all the other buttons and took the silicone pads off. I checked that there are no shorts on the joints between the pi and the aio board....
