I think it can be caused by the ribbon connector going from the screen to the breakout board to not be aligned just right. I believe this might be more of a hardware issue than a software issue.

So depending on what version of Raspberry Pi Zero you used, you'd have wifi built in. The Raspberry Pi Zero v1 doesn't have wifi, but the Raspberry Pi Zero W (w for wifi) does.
