Re: obsidianspider's mintyPi

Yeah, I have three half-started builds and a few more in mind that I haven't started yet that I want to make. Sometimes I think "Why the heck do I need so many different handheld Raspberry Pis?" Then I remember that I don't really need a reason. They're fun to make.

I can handle seat-of-my-pants modding
Not gonna lie, at times this project felt like cheating. The whole thing was figured out ahead of time by wermy and Helder.

Re: obsidianspider's mintyPi

so far I have issues with the start/select buttons being pressed if that side is screwed too tight. I may have to file some material off the buttons or the switch tops... Mine is definitely squashed in there. I tried to be careful with cable management, but even still, it is really cramped. I notic...

Re: obsidianspider's mintyPi

ooh it fits after all! I can go back to my plan to do that since I haven't ordered a 20mm speaker yet. nice! I totally removed the speaker rib and then took a little bit out of the button surround on each side and it seemed to fit pretty well. Eyeballing it has the DS Lite speaker about the same th...

obsidianspider's mintyPi

My build was prety much according to the guide, except I used a cheap charge/protect board from eBay instead of the microLipo and I also "convinced" the 3D printed part that holds the speaker with a file so I could use a DS Lite speaker. Thanks to Helder and wermy for the excellent parts and guide. ...

Re: Dreamcast VMU Pi

I managed to sandwich things in with a cheap charge/protect board, but it's not boosting up to 5V. That said, the cheap 128x128 screen I'm using doesn't need it.

Error running RetroPie update

I used the RetroPie image linked from the guide and things work very well, but I decided to update RetroPie while I work on my case fabrication and at the end I got an error about git pull -1. I went into the log and it looks like it's related to this. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Runni...

I also put a small 2.5lb weight over the base of mine. Super helpful, it holds it in place nicely:

Great idea! I think I'm going to pick one of those up. That helping hand flops over all the time.

Re: Rubber Nubs on Helping Hand?

I had been using the sheath from ethernet cable in the past, but tonight I stopped by Lowe's and picked up these screw protectors . They fit pretty well on my cheap Harbor Freight helping hand. Not super snug, but they look close to what wermy's setup has, and the rubber is thicker than the ethernet...

Re: Rubber Nubs on Helping Hand?

Thanks to /r/whatiisthisthing I think we have an answer: Look up "vinyl bolt caps" or "vinyl thread protector"
