Re: Odd or interesting mint tins
Got my Ouija tin in the mail today! Top shot.jpg Looks like the top half of the Ouija tin sits a little further down than the Altoids... Top part comparison.jpg But the lower halves are the same size! Should work perfectly! front lower half.jpg side by side lid open.jpg Looks like the tins have the ...

Re: The watermelon.
Soldering the pi in went like a dream with only one notable exception. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get the ground pin to connect. You may have to leave the soldering iron tip in the hole for an additional second to make a bond with the ground pad. For whatever reason the ground pins on t...

It's been a while since I did an electronics project - are we talking about standard 1N4001 ( Adafruit link ) diodes? Here's what I found from another thread.... A diode of any kind really can be used but if possible get fast recovery diodes like this : https://www.taydaelectronics.com/diodes/fast-...

The one USB port is taken up by the sound card. You'd have to find room for a USB hub AND a port!

Re: Any advice to beginners?
My technique is to work near an open window. Breathe in before I touch the solder to the iron, hold my breath, and when all that rosin smoke starts coming up, exhale to blow it away from me.
But yeah, wiring up a spare 120mm case fan would probably be a pretty smart idea.

Odd or interesting mint tins
Anyone doing a build using something besides the standard altoids tin? Maybe one of the blanks from adafruit with a custom paint job? What are some other cool tin ideas?
I found my next case. Gonna call it the Spooky Pi!

Be careful when showing off your brand new Minty Pi
I brought mine in to work, and everyone loved it. They thought it was the coolest thing ever! Tons of questions about how I made it, what it can do, etc. The first two people who were checking it out flipped the switch to turn it off before handing it back to me! After that, I made sure to explain t...

Success! Just tested the end of the wire and it looks like it's working good.

I lifted the power pad off the sound card!
Is there any chance I can recover from this mistake, or should I just get a new one off ebay?
