Re: Pi3 vs Zero.

From what I've gathered, even with the added performance of the Pi3 over the Zero, it won't be able to meet the threshold of running many more emulators; possibly MAME and a few others. In short, better than Zero, but not good enough to reach the next generation after SNES/Genesis. If you really wan...

Re: Purpose of usb hub

I did the same thing as @rodocop on both of my builds. The GPIO mapping is much easier than I thought it would be, and realistically you'd have to go through similar steps with a microcontroller. It is very nice to have an external USB port if for nothing other than instant and automatic transfer of...

Re: What 3d Printer do you have?

I find it hilarious that people keep referring to Cadillacs as though they're the pinnacle of automotive greatness, when in reality they're fairly mediocre cars. :) True, though I think the idiom stems from the history of the inclusion of bells and whistles. Cadillacs weren't really ever the best m...

Re: What 3d Printer do you have?

I did briefly look at the Anet and Tevo printers, but they have a reputation for being less-well built - improper wiring, grounding hazards and just general risks of electrical fires that I didn't want to deal with. The concerns may be overstated by some, but it was a big red flag as something I di...

Re: What 3d Printer do you have?

I love my Anet A8. It's a RepRap style, DIY build. So you need to be a little handy to put it together properly, but if you're on this forum, chances are you'll have no problems. The print quality is fair, with some printable upgrades easily available. Not the prettiest on a desk like those enclosed...

Re: Multi-material 3d print

Nice! That's pretty great resolution in the end. I'm looking to upgrade my own RepRap with a dual extruder soon. How do you like the Bowden vs the standard carriage mount?

What'd you use to design it? Fusion 360?
I use Solidworks 2015 for the vast majority of my CAD work, professional and personal. Fusion is fine for CAD beginners or quick, rough renders, but I like having the extra power and features readily available. Plus my clients prefer it

Re: Custom Orange-Pi Portable

Beautifull project! Small question : why do you use a power bank battery manager instead of powerboost 1000C ? Because probably with powerbank you won't be able to play while charging. Is it because powerboost 1000C does not output enought current for opi? Thanks mate! Initially I used this charger...

Re: Custom Orange-Pi Portable

Looking good. What are the dimensions of the shell? And how big is the fan? (I'm currently agonizing over whether I should use a Pi0 or Pi3 in my build; the extra power would be nice, but I'm worried about bulk with the fan + board) Thank you very much! Currently the shell overall is 210mm wide by ...
