It looks like a Variant 9, I'd triple check before you do anything with/to it. Also it is a good idea to test it before you modify it.

Closest would be his original series substituting your common ground for the DMG PCB or as infinit said you can go straight to the gpio pins.

It would give me a worth while reason to get a hit air rework station. My one regret when I ordered the boards was not getting a stencil. At the time though, I didn't have a hot air station, only a cruddy soldering iron. Since then I bought a 898D station that Wermy recommended in his video and man...

If I remember right Kites image files are zipped, you may or may not have to unzip the IMG file depending on your imaging software of choice.
