Re: DirtyBeagles Gameboy Pi2

Great solution, @dirtybeagles!

I noticed however that the cartridge isn't flat against the case due to the screw heads. You may want to use a countersink screw to make the screw head flushed against the GB case.

Btw, have you checked the hottest temperature you got from your GB RPi2?

Re: Taking the GBZ on a flight

Just got back to US over an international flight and was surprised to see how many warnings about batteries on flights. It might just be the airline, or the fact I was coming out of china, but they were really cracking down on it. I saw people leaving behind portable power banks. Mind sharing which...

Thanks @Mad_Duke and @alien0matic!

@Mad_Duke
Probably will not suit your taste but with a simple design like the vigolox, you can get started in your full sized arcade cabinet in no time. :D

Re: Overheating Causing Random Freezes (was Emulation Issues)

Still trying to determine the cause of the overheating issue with my GB Pi2, I thought of several possible reasons: 1. There could be some short causing the the overheating - This will entail opening my GB Pi2, removing the components from the case and tracing everything for possible shorts and woul...

Re: Kilren's No-OEM parts build [Complete]

Great build, @kilren! Your build log is full of emotions! Ouch on that power drill accident. :( Good to hear it's healed. Congrats on your two new babies -- your soon-to-be-born and your baby GBZ! :) I'm sure you'll have awesome time with both of them! :D Looking forward to the next... Cheers, man!

@Kite
Thinking of using an FPC adapter such as this. Planning on tinkering until you can have your display board go live. ;)

I too think that DPI will allow us to expand our choice of screen sizes which in turn would pave the way to more types of custom projects of diff shape and sizes.

Re: Would an Arduino screen be compatible with pi? Example pic inside

@kite I stand corrected. :) thanks for the insight. Obviously my research isn't enough yet as I didnt know about DPI. (I only know about dots per inch but that's diff. :)) Anyways, as you said, I should go with DPI and not SPI. Can you direct me to where I can buy a cheap 2.8" DPI screen and documen...

Re: Would an Arduino screen be compatible with pi? Example pic inside

Actually the ili9341 based screens are all capable of 60hz refresh rates. I made a PiGrrl2 with a 2.8inch and a PiGrrl Zero with a 2.2inch screens that are very clear and have fast refresh rate: https://youtu.be/-KWqAKD5TM0 https://youtu.be/ct3Clmvc-KQ Of course you can use cheap $6 ili9341 display...

Re: Rpi3 Solder Pads

Personally, I use a multimeter to trace the pads where they lead to. Then use references to confirm my findings. I recall tracing the USB port connections going to the chipset (chip marked with "SMSC"). I had to trace them first before cutting my Pi to ensure I don't cut the traces and still be able...

Re: alien0matics build or a newbie learning soldering

Nice build, @alien0matics! How long did this take you to complete? It appears you complete it in just one day! :shock: (all progress posted on Jul 6) Sure, this is so easy I did it in one afternoon :lol: The first pic with the disassembled Game Boy was shot on the 16th of June. The finished pic was...
