I need help making a one handed... handheld

Post by quirkey_conundrum » Sat Oct 14, 2017 2:18 pm

I made a go fund me :3
https://www.gofundme.com/one-handed-handheld

I only have one hand but I want to make a system I can use easily

https://goo.gl/rJjRvG

I want to use something like a Wii nunchuck (link above) with a screen attached and probably some other buttons of course.
Since I'm new to the whole modding thing I'm hoping to get some help on parts and wiring.

and I'm thinking of making the screen fold in or something
what do you think about calling it a UniPi?

To post pictures, you click on full editor & preview button, and then you drag and drop pictures to the text area. They will upload. You will have a list after the text area, just click put inline and you are done.
If you do not click put inline, they will still show up but at the end of the post, and you will not be able to place them where you want

This is a really interesting concept! I'd be interested in seeing what you had in mind. :) . You should be able to use the attachments button to upload images, or you can upload them some place like imgur.com and use image tags to embed them.

Interesting idea and a cool project. My immediate thought was, that concept wouldn't really be workable as there's just not enough room to cram all the stuff you need into the available space. I wonder if you could do something based on a MintyPi though - stack the PCBs behind the screen, extend the buttons down to the Nunchuck (I guess you'd need an Arduino for the analog stick), some tact switches for X/Y/Start/Select.

Or alternatively, build a more-or-less normal GBZ but move the A/B/X/Y buttons to the back of the case.

I thought about the space problem and I think there should an extension on the bottom because I want the screen to fold if possible

it probably wouldnt take much to convert a wii nunchuck to usb via a teensy. They use i2c comunications (just a quick google found a premade one http://www.raphnet.net/electronique/wus ... dex_en.php)

its an interesting design though. it may be a little tight on space to get a pi, and enough battery inside the 'chuck, and i would be a little worried about the screen being a touch fragile up on the top
Get a small cheep LCD in your project https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=2312
Wrap it all round a battery https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2292
Or use a custom PCB to make it really small https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2512
or make it really really really really tiny!! https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2919
