A project with a custom casing
Hello every one,
I have been working on a similar project with a different casing :

I made that casing such that it is easier to fit all the components inside. And the build is quite easier as the control pad board is a USB SNES one.
Tell me what you think of it !
I would like to start a crowdfunding campaign in order to make injection molds for the casing and a custom board for rpi zero audio/usb hub/battery managment. The whole kit (w/ rpi0) should be around 50euros.

Very nice! Love how the case is just an extended SNES controller (aka the best controller).

It's been a pretty instructive project as I learned from scratch 3D modeling and now I just installed EagleCad and started the pcb
If I can get to injection molding it would be definitly a nice experience !

Really cool. I just finished building a pi zero inside an SNES controller with HDMI out. Have the screen integrated is much cooler, and still not a prohibitive size.

For LCD drive I am testing 2 options :
- DPI, but the downpoint is that you can't switch to hdmi
- composite, using the same IC as most of the LCD driver boards for the 3.5 LCD (not sure it will work out because it seems very very more complex)

I finally made it !
After weeks of struggling with this chinese IC programing ,I finally got the LCD to show up signal !
It's the composite signal from the pi. The image is not flickering at all, as most of the time flickering comes from the fact that those LCD board from internet are made for 12V.
So the full PCB is done. The features are :
- USB hub with 3 USB connectors
- Battery manager
- Sound headphone jack + wheel potentiometer + amplifier/speaker
- LCD drive through composite signal.
The big advantage of this composite signal is that you can still switch with HDMI output (which is not possible with DPI if I'm not mistaken)
The second big advantage of this PCB is that NO SOLDERING is required. All contact are made with spring loaded connectors. (on pictured prototype I soldered Pi to PCB for convenience)
The full kit will take 5 minutes for mounting! Just plug and play.
Full kit will be about 50€. Only missing part will be the Pi zero as I can't include it.
