I followed this:
http://buzzingretrocomputing.blogspot.c ... t-and.html
This gave me a smooth image and sharper text, but had vsync issues.

Code: Select all

sdtv_mode = 16 # for NTSC progressive
This worked better for me:

Code: Select all

sdtv_mode = 2 # for PAL progressive
... but I say better, it's still not acceptable with this noise. It appears to be some kind of static interference, but I tried a few wirings of using a shielded/grounded cable for the video wires and it didn't seem to help any.

:geek: Is my screen defective, or is this typical of an inexpensive LCD like this?

I'd say it's indicative of cheap LCD's running on Composite input.

Sempi, any updates on this build? Would love to hear how progress is going!

I just got an SP case and ordered an Adafruit 1601 tft LCD, not sure what the best options for screens are besides that. I have a BW from Amazon and it's way too large and would require tons of case mod to the point of removing so much structure as to harm the build integrity.
