Please use third-party image storage service

Post by 1461748123 » Sat May 14, 2016 3:25 pm

Hello guys!

The community is growing in a extremely fast rate with more topics and post every day, and I'm really happy to see that :D
With the community growing, the traffic is getting higher and higher as well. Using external image storage service can really help us reduce traffic and make the image load faster as well.

I suggest using http://imgur.com/ but others will work as well :) (PS. Please do not use dropbox because it seems to have some issues)
Here is a quick tutorial on how to use imgur to store image and put them in posts:

First, visit http://imgur.com/ and click the blue 'upload images' button at the top. It should bring you to something like this:

Then, drag the images you want to upload to the browser. You can past or select from your computer as well

Click the upload button and it should start uploading all the images you put in

Done! Now your images are store in imgur. We now need to use them in our post. Right click on the image you wanna use, and click 'copy image address'
Image

Then go to your post editor, click the 'Img' button at the tool bar
Image

There should be something like this appear in your post:

Past the image url you just copied in to the two tags, and you are done!

Hope this will help you guys a bit :)

May I also mention not using Dropbox? Image linking to Dropbox will almost never work, and it almost always shows up as a broken image.
Just a heads up. ;)

Or one can still use photobucket. That's what I'm using. Perhaps you can make this sticky so others can see immediately?

Thanks for this! I do have unlimited bandwidth and storage, but things like this will definitely help the site load faster for others as it takes the some of the burden off my servers. :)
