Retropie not detecting analog left or down on PSP joystick

Running retropie 4.1, pi 2, teensy LC, and a PSP analog stick.

The analog stick is detected in windows, but for some reason the configure controls part of Retropie won't detect left or down. It picks up right and up and maps them just fine though.

Has anyone else run into this issue?

I can post my teensy code once I get home if needed, but as I said it detects just fine in windows.
