I'm trying to follow https://github.com/retropie/retropie-se ... ionstation
More specifically, I'm trying to do this section:
https://github.com/retropie/retropie-se ... ed-at-boot
I have no idea how to "add a "sleep" command in the EmulationStation start a script in /usr/bin/emulationstation". I don't even have an idea on how to get to /usr/bin/emulationstation. I have my microsd card that I flashed with RetroPie 4.1 but I don't see any folders that would let me modify any emulationstation configs.
I'm trying to set up my Raspberry Pi 0 for the first time with RetroPie but I don't have access to a USB keyboard, so I'm trying to set everything up with a GamePad and EmulationStation doesn't register my GamePad. I've tried two different GamePads and neither of them have worked.
I have tried for hours to figure out how to do this, but there is little information other than "go to /usr/bin/emulationstation and modify this file"
I tried searching for this on the wiki, I tried searching on the forums, I can't find anything! I'm at my wit's end.
Please, someone help me get RetroPie up and running.
Edit RetroPie to use Gamepad
Re: Edit RetroPie to use Gamepad
To see the config files you can use a WIN SCP program to log in to the raspberry pi, and se all folders on the SD card.
I do not know what gamepads you are using, but wireless bluetooth controllers needs to be setup using a keyboard.

there is also plenty of good "how to" setup retropie on youtube.

They are USB gamepads. You plug them into a USB port, but EmulationStation isn't detecting them.nuneberg wrote:To see the config files you can use a WIN SCP program to log in to the raspberry pi, and se all folders on the SD card.

Also, I have seen tutorials on how to set it up but most use a USB keyboard or they use the headless method, neither of which are an option for me at the moment, which is why i am trying to use a gamepad.
I haven't seen any tutorials on what to do using a gamepad or if it doesn't recognize the gamepad. Like I mentioned in the OP, that wiki page is the only thing I was able to find on the subject.
Are buying a USB keyboard or some kind of wifi adapter the only way for me to set this thing up?

What Model Raspberry are you using ? the usb gamepads like snes etc should just work fine. if you use a pi zero it's different story.
