Hey popcorn, if I do this change, could I still get the bootup video of the GB logo?
I think the GB logo video hides the bootup messages anyway. I'm about to try setting the boot video right now.
Let us know how you get on I'm having trouble with this. Sometimes it will work but the majority of the time it flashes as if its trying to start but fails and i just continue to see the console text.... I cant figure out a fix
If you don't like the console text you have to also turn that off yeah. Using the custom splash startup only replaces the "retropie!" image with the joystick and the blue background,

Personally i like the console text for now so i won't be doing this.

Nope. The boot up video works. I have a custom one setup and that's the only thing you see besides the ES logo before the ES wheel menu. It just hides the console messages, the initial splash rainbow image and the raspberry icon.

I can confirm that. My video even overlays the Emulation Station splash screen for 2 seconds.
But strangely, sometimes the video does not show during boot.

Followed the instructions and it seemed to work but now when I press f4 when in retropie it takes me to the input screen but freezes and can't input anything?
Any tips?

Yes, was some time ago. I think it was as simple as just needing a restart?
